About Us

Ronald Brown, born and raised resident of Shepherdstown, returned home from the Nashville Auto Diesel College with a degree in diesel mechanics and a dream to, one day, open his own business. After two years working as an equipment mechanic for a local business, he decided to pursue his dream. In August of 1986, with $300 in the bank and a positive attitude, he rented two bays of an existing garage from another local businessman. Thus began, “Mechanical Services”, a complete auto and truck repair facility with a small office in the back of the shop. Within two years, the business was off to a great start with the help of a supportive family, friends, and community. In 1988, a local student from Jefferson High School and Shepherdstown by the name of William Prather, was added to the staff; and Ronald purchased the entire building in order to expand his business. A 24-hour towing and roadside service was added to the business in 1988, as well.

In 1989, Ronald married Maria Evans, also a local resident of Jefferson County/Charles Town and a 1989 accounting graduate of Shepherd College. Maria worked as a staff cost accountant for a Maryland manufacturing firm and took over the accounting for Ronald’s business. Additional mechanics and a tow truck driver were hired to assist Ronald in his growing business. By 1992, Maria became a full-time employee in order to raise the Brown’s first child, a beautiful daughter, Taylor. In 2003, Ronnie and Maria were blessed with an amazing son, Chase.

By 1994, the Brown’s incorporated their business and changed the name to Brown’s Tire, Towing & Auto Care Center, Inc. The staff had grown to six full-time employees, four full-service bays, two service/tow vehicles, two office spaces, and a customer waiting room. In 2006, a full-time Dump Truck Service was added to their ever-growing services and affiliations. Today, Brown’s Tire continues to be a Christian, family-owned and operated business supporting seven local families within their nine employees. Ronnie and Maria pride themselves on being easily accessible to both their staff and customers. On any given day, you will find both Ronnie and Maria working the day-to-day business, along with their amazing staff. They are well staffed with two Master ASE technicians, two ASE technicians, three line technicians, a service manager, and an office manager. Affiliations include NAPA Auto Care Center, AAA Approved Auto Repair Facility, Continental & General Tire Dealer, Chevron/Havoline Oil Dealer, BG Products service center, and U-Haul Rental Center.

Brown’s Tire continues to strive to offer the best customer service and complete auto and truck repair facility with the latest technology and educated staff to Shepherdstown and the surrounding areas. Brown’s Tire, We are blessed to be serving our community since 1986!
